Unity has developed best-in-class expertise in serving the healthcare sector in Ontario.
Unity evaluated potential green strategies and determined that since they own their own office space, investing in LED lighting was a good option for them.
LED lighting has a host of advantages including improved lighting quality for task-oriented spaces and greater flexibility in terms of the range of lighting options available. The sustainability aspect is where these new fixtures really shine, however. Not only do they use less power and last much longer than incandescent and fluorescent lights, they are also free of toxic chemicals and 100% recyclable.
LED retrofits are a frequent low-hanging fruit recommendation for organizations to reduce their energy use and operating costs, but they still require an upfront cost of time and money.
In addition to leveraging the Climate Action Microgrant to help defray the costs of the project, Unity was able to arrange to have the installation done during their holiday shutdown, minimizing inconvenience for employees.
The longer lifespan of LEDs and lower energy consumption will reduce costs and emissions for the business for many years to come.
