The Project

Gather Catering & Events is a boutique-style catering company focused on being at the top of their industry, from-scratch cooking, locally sourced ingredients, sustainable menus, waste reduction and company culture.

Since becoming a member of Green Economy Calgary, becoming zero-waste and integrating sustainability best practices has been an integral part of their business.

One immediate solution to reduce their Greenhouse Gas emissions and carbon footprint was to assess their current production warehouse to replace and eliminate low-efficiency products. As refrigeration plays a huge role in their daily operations, switching their catering facility’s refrigeration systems to low-impact refrigerants became a critical step in aligning with their sustainability goals.

The Benefits

Reduced Carbon Emissions

Reduced Energy Costs

The Results

Traditionally refrigerants, such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), are potent greenhouse gases that contribute significantly to climate change when leaked or improperly disposed of. By transitioning to a low-impact alternative, not only does Gather reduce their direct carbon footprint, but also improves their energy efficiency.

Beyond environmental benefits, this upgrade extends equipment life and supports a cleaner and more responsible food production process.
