Generations Calgary is a not-for-profit, multigenerational community campus dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the human spirit through purpose, connections, and possibilities. Their campus brings together seniors’ care, affordable housing, early childhood education, and community programming.
Committed to building a sustainable future that supports both the people they serve today and the generations who will follow, Generations Calgary decided to complete a lighting retrofit project. Many of the lighting fixtures were aging and inefficient resulting in unnecessary energy use. By upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting and restoring motion-sensing controls, Generations Calgary was able to reduce their environmental footprint while creating a brighter, safer, and more welcoming space for all.
By completing the project, the facility has achieved meaningful energy savings that
will reduce ongoing utility costs. The LED retrofit will reduce energy use by approximately 18,980 kWh annually resulting in GHG emissions reduction of 8.04 tonnes of CO2e annually. The new fixtures also have longer lifespans and lower maintenance requirements, reducing future replacement and repair expenses.Â
Additionally, the project has significantly improved the safety and quality of the environment as the lighting is now brighter and more reliable.
