Quantum Lifecycle Partners is both an IT asset disposition (ITAD) company and an end-of-life electronics recycler. Through this strategic pairing of services, Quantum covers every step of the IT disposition process. With a keen focus on evolving technology, the changing marketplace and a complex regulatory landscape, Quantum evolves to reflect their ability to respond to customer needs in a meaningful way.
One of these technologies was their new advanced plastics recovery line designed to mechanically separate and process mixed plastic waste streams from electronics into high-quality recycled materials. The system uses sorting and cleaning technologies to isolate key polymers, removing contaminants and non-recyclable materials. These recovered plastics are then refined into consistent, production-ready resins that can be reintroduced into manufacturing, supporting closed-loop recycling and a circular economy.
The new plastics line can process up to 60 metric tons each day of electronic plastics. This is the equivalent weight of 60 average passenger vehicles, processed each day.
Additionally, when China closed its doors to plastic waste imports, mixed electronics plastics shifted into alternative overseas markets, raising concerns about contamination, illegal dumping, and poor environmental controls. By internalizing this processing capability in Canada, this project allows Quantum to capture more value from material already flowing through their system.
